Learning, Gaming, New Media and Digital Homes
Digital surfaces create new opportunities for learning, gaming, and other new media applications. Some of our partners are interested in social gaming, serious games, and game play in MSEs. Others are concerned with educational applications for digital surfaces. We will work with partners SMART Technologies, A2M, zu.com and others to develop surface-based games and learning environments.
Large digital displays are increasingly present in the home, where they are typically bought as part of a home theatre and/or gaming system. Such surfaces in the home can go far beyond these special purpose uses. They can serve social aims, such as enhancing communication with distant friends and relatives, or as a way for home members to track domestic information, or help its inhabitants monitor and regulate the settings of a ‘smart home’. TRLabs and its partner companies are the primary industrial drivers in this area.
